Fun Times Are Ahead!

Hi all,

It is so good to be write again. I have been missing this, but I have been at a loss as to what to write. Earlier I posted that I was having a road block on a friends blanket. I am now slumbering more than working on the blankets. I am now having more fun playing with the girls than creating really great blankets for you to check out. I have been reading other people BLOG's rather than sewing. I have been thinking of new ways to make my BLOG's more interesting and more relevant.
I have been procrastinating.

And so I am here thinking of you. Thinking of how not to bore you to tears. So here it is - A Fun day in the life and times of Marcia. Crazy me. :)

This week I am on "vacation" from work. Which means I have my day job and my momma job all wrapped up into one. So I take my girls to school this morning, and drop them off with little incident. Then I head to my parent's house knowing I have things to do for them while they are out. I am not amused by the note my mom leaves me, because it is cryptic, and leaves me wondering what in the world she asked me to do while she was out! Then I call my little brother to see if he can translate for me, and by the end of the 30 minute convo, he has it figured out, but not before I do what I think needs done with the material I have to work with. My goal today was to complete as much as I could for my mom so I could spend time with my littlest angel, because she hardly gets alone time with me. Her older sisters always tend to steal all my attention. After I am done with as much as I can do for my mom, I take my angel to Panera for a Bear Claw. I am so enjoying every moment, because it is just me and her. And there are a couple of older ladies sipping coffee by the fake fire place turning and checking out how sweet and well behaved this little angel is. Jess - with her unruly blond curls going every which way, sitting sweetly in the booth across from me, enjoying her bear claw bites. I want to pack this moment up in time and never let it end. She has a sweetness about her that is solely hers. I have so much fun with her I forgot my frustration from earlier. My day has not ended, but my time alone with her did when we picked up her older siblings from school.

The fun times change constantly. Time always has a way of sneaking in and stealing moments. Never loose sight of who you are and what you are about. For if you do, someone will drive you to a place you don't want to be and you will not be able to get back to where you came from or where you want to be.

My feelings of road blockage have continued. I have allowed someone/something else to lead me on my path. I have lost sight of my goals for my business. This is my moment to get back on a path heading towards a new and better goal. This detour will be for the good. And I will learn to keep pressing on - no matter the direction, and the road blocks.

Projects

Welcome to the Cozy Quilt Blog!

So a sick child has inspired me to make a quilt for her. What a wonderful thing to make a quilt for your child and to have her help! Purple is my Annette's favorite color. She chose the squares, and helped me pin and unpin the squares as I sewed them together.

My other completed project consisted of creating a frog themed quilt for my mom, which has been given to a friend. That was a fun one to make because of the theme. It turned out really lively and cool.

So I have 5 more quilts to make, and I will be looking for time to make these beautiful quilts. I also have another project that will be a bit different for a friend, and I am thinking of an interesting way of making this project work.

WOW - is what I say all the time when I hear a person loves the blanket I made for them. The thing I like most about these blankets are how soft and warm they are even after a couple of washings. They seem to get softer and cozier the more you use them. I am glad for my aunt who looks out for sales on flannel & fleece, and I am thankful to all my family and friends who are helping out with this adventure of mine!

One more thing is I plan on posting pics of all my new quilts today. :)

Visitors

Welcome to the Cozy Quilt Blog!

Sunday I was able to visit with a really wonderful group of friends/family at a baby shower. My friend Amanda just recently had a baby, and I was able to visit with her today. I loved seeing her again, and I am looking forward to seeing them again soon. I love going to baby showers because I get to see what people buy to give to the new mom.

I have noticed a few new visitors to my FB Page 'Cozy Quilts by M'. Glad to have them all join! Welcome!

With my sickness gone, I am looking forward to creating more blankets! Boy blankets are in the works right now. I have at least 3 to complete this month.

Last time I checked the snow fall where I live was at 7in. Mom said we have beat the February record snow fall from 1914. So looks like I am snowed in for the week! Ah - how fun this is, and with the weather as it is, John Deere here I come!

Road Blocks

Welcome again to my Blog!

I have hit a road block in my brain. As I sit here writing, I have a headache, my girls are downstairs playing, and I am contemplating my goals for my business. I have 7 orders to make more quilts, one is in the works and the others are in my conceptual thoughts. My mom wants one for a friend with a frog theme, my friend wants one for her grandson that has a John Deere theme, 3 boys blankets, a girl blanket, and 1 that I just need to finish. Tonight is the night I plan on cutting up more squares for those blankets after I get somethings cleaned up. Tomorrow I hope to get that much needed advice from my mom, and to get more fabric for her blanket.

My road block is figuring out time to do all of these blankets, and clean my house, and take care of those girls. Although I usually think I can do it all, today I feel like I am overloaded with so much to do. So here is to getting those blankets finished, making them as warm and cozy and snugly as possible, and getting over that road block, for that road block is just an obstacle for me to overcome instead of allowing it to over take my life.

SOLD!!!!

Welcome to all!

Today I am excited to tell all my friends that I have sold a blanket from my Esty Store!!! The person who bought the blanket resides in my favorite state of all! CalifornIA!!! LOVE IT!!! To all my friends who have bought blankets please post comments about how you feel about the purchase. I know some of you have already made comments, and I really appreciate them, I thought others who might not have seen those comments would like to hear what has been said.

I have posted another blanket out on my Etsy Store - very lovely lilac fleece. I changed it up a bit and put a pattern to the quilt. Jay (my husband) even commented that he thought it was a good one.

So as my excitement winds down, I will continue to work on new blankets, revise my store to make it more buyer friendly, add to my repertoire of items and continue to promote those blankets. I thank you all for the comments and ideas I have received. I am still mulling over some of those ideas in my mind.

What Do You Think?

Welcome All!

While supper is cooking and the girls are playing quietly, or semi-quietly, I decided to write up another BLOG. I have had a great couple of days. Last night I completed my 2 receiving blankets, and started another blanket which will be purple! Today I have order some more fabrics for future quilts. One of my friends has requested a blanket for her grandson, John Deere is the theme!!! How fun will that be? So I searched the sites I usually visit for my fabrics and found a couple of neat patterns with John Deere patterns. eBay also had a couple really neat ones I am thinking of bidding on or just buying. I have not made a themed quilt yet, but I find this a fun way to give someone an heirloom that will be enjoyed for years to come.

I have not completed the other blanket for my other friend yet, because I am not happy with the color of the fleece I chose to back it. So I have purchased a different fleece, and am hoping the colors match. What I have completed of the blanket has been posted out in my pics, so hopefully this will work for me.

I am enjoying this process of letting all my friends know what is happening in my world, and how I am dealing with my new business of choice. Thank you for you time in helping me with this process, and thanks to you for the business I get from you passing this on to people you know who would enjoy a handmade blanket from someone who enjoys making them.

Antsy

Welcome back to my Blog!

I am sitting waiting for supper to finish cooking, and I am really antsy to get working on another blanket. I usually work on the blankets at night while my family is snoozing, and dreaming the night away. It gets crazy when I work on the blankets while the girls are awake! They love to help me out and I sometimes am ok with that... but then sometimes I feel overwhelmed with their type of "help"! :) Yet I have been thinking about other strategies on how to promote the blankets I make. Also I have been thinking what other types of crafty blankets I can make that people would want to buy for themselves, for Baby Showers or just to keep around the home for when their grandchildren come to visit.

So I have searched the net for ideas and suggestions. I have seen one idea that I loved and have stitched up a few examples. Yet another reason I am antsy, I am not totally complete with those examples, and I really am looking forward to completing them tonight and posting them on my Etsy store for sale! This is really very fun for me to look for and figure out ways to give people different options. I am calling all my friends to give me ideas - either by posting the idea or posting a website of where I can find an idea to promote my product or something I might make to give parents a better product for their children.

Well that is all for now. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your input!

My Latest Project

Welcome to my Blog!

I hope that my ramblings have been at the least entertaining. I do have fun writing worthy information, but I also like to add a bit of dry humor to my posting. So while the kids are definitely sleeping, and I have not yet fallen asleep on the floor or in a chair, I will give you the skinny on my latest project.

The project I am working on is for a good friend of mine. She is a really intelligent, interesting, and wonderful Christian woman whom I met at First Church of Christ's (the church I attend) Woman's Bible study on Thursday mornings. She is a mother of 4, and I am making her newest addition a blanket. The blanket has lots of pinks, & purples, and some green and yellow. It has some beautiful and delicate patterns, but also some fun and bold patterns. I have not added the final important step of this process yet, which is the fleece to the backing. I have uploaded the pics to the slide show on the right hand side of the screen. I believe if you click on the pics it will take you to the whole lot, and you won't have to wait for the slide show to work its way to them. The squares are 7" square, and I have sewn 8 squares by 10 rows for the blanket. Which makes this the biggest blanket I have made. I don't have all the dimensions, but I will when it is complete! I believe it is beautiful and I am looking forward to the end product.

Do check it out and post comments about the blankets, one or all. I would love to read your thoughts and comments!

Well that is all for now. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
