The start of things

Hello to all who take the time to read this,

Today is my first experience to blog. I have thought about doing this, and have just found the time to actually get this accomplished. Now that the kids are safely playing with their Christmas presents, I thought it about time.

Here is the scoop on how I decided to start creating the snugly quilts. I am by profession a computer programmer, but I have been feeling unfulfilled in this profession as of late. Realizing my creative side of me, I also recalled how unhappy I was with a lot of the store bought blankets. So I thought I would try my hand at creating receiving blankets, and bought a bunch of flannel to sew up and see how things worked. My sister thought maybe I should also add fleece to the mix, and so the flannel and fleece patchwork quilts were created. I loved how light they were, but also how warm and cozy they ended up being. I do not quilt the flannel and fleece together, nor do I add any batting. I felt that the flannel and fleece stuck well enough together that no quilting was needed, and that if I added batting to the blanket it would just be way too heavy. Friends and family have enjoyed these blankets, so I thought to post them out on Etsy.com to sell. Here is the link to my Etsy site http://www.etsy.com/shop/suzynic.

My goal for this blog spot is for you to follow my progress in creating new and wonderful blanket for babies, children, or adults. Also for you to collaborate with me on what you would like to have as a blanket. I will post my fabrics so you can choose which ones you would like in you blanket, and I could also use fabrics of your choice from other sources. My love is creating things people want to use for their selves, or families. All of my blankets are meant to be different so they are one of a kind. This is what makes them unique and also an heirloom.

Blessings and friendship for all.
Marcia
